From GreyNet: Dear Colleague,

GreyNet International recognizes that awareness to the value of grey literature calls for action.

GreyNet’s organizational members benefit from promotional services provided by way of advertorials in a range of digital publications: web-based portal, websites, newsletters, program books, conference proceedings, flagship journal, as well as educational and training materials. It is through advertorials that other communities of practice in the field of grey literature and networked information are made aware of your information products and services.

If you are not an organizational member, but would like to reach a broader public by way of an Advertorial, GreyNet has a special offer that covers all of the above-mentioned publications in 2021. Invitation to participate

We invite you to participate in a brief survey to share with us the resources you have personally found to be useful for learning about grey literature. This will ensure that GreyNet affiliates can easily access the information they need on how to assist, educate, and train their clients and colleagues. To do so, we need your input.

The E&T committee will be reviewing the Grey Literature Guides website during the next few months and updating its content. We are also interested in whether you have used the website in past to access resources, and how it could be enhanced to better meet your needs. Note that you do not need to have accessed the website in order to complete the survey.

As a thank you for your participation, you can participate in a draw for a one-year subscription to The Grey Journal (a €240 value).

This online questionnaire is constructed using Qualtrics and disseminated by way of GreyNet’s Distribution List and Social Media. It takes about 10 - 15 minutes to complete.

2020 is the Year of Grey Literature

In February, the Call-for-Papers for the Twenty-Second International Conference on Grey Literature will be published. This 22nd Conference in the GL-Series focusses on the applications of grey literature for science and society. If your organization is producing, processing, and using grey literature in the scholarly and public domains, we invite you to share these resources by entering them in the GreyGuide Repository. Each new entry will receive a unique DOI (persistent identifier) and a system generated citation in referencing your work.

Just 3-EASY STEPS:

Grey Literature like Civil Servant are examples of a compound noun, not an adjectival

Grey Literature is not literature that typically refers to works of poetry and prose. Just as a Civil Servant is not a person employed in a house for domestic duties.

Grey Literature includes publications of multiple types produced on all levels of government, academics, business and industry not controlled by commercial publishing

Grey Literature and the Circular Economy

An upcoming seminar in the GreyForum Series will look at grey literature not only as an important vehicle for the circular economy but will also demonstrate its part in the information industry alongside other industries embedded in a circular economy. Grey Literature as a vehicle is foremost responsible for the knowledge transfer required to raise awareness to the circular economy. And, it is this that is required to bring about needed change in the mindset required for its implementation. Industries like that of information appear to have remained until now on the periphery.

Grey literature encompasses a range of diverse types of multidisciplinary and sustained  information resources that allow for innovative solutions to barriers incorporated in a linear, ownership based information industry. Grey Literature is open access compliant, exploits the reuse and enhancement of existing resources, and seeks to preserve the knowledge contained therein for both science and society.

This first of its kind forum on the circular economy and grey literature is organized by GreyNet International together with the Amsterdam based platform gocirularnow.com. For further details visit www.greynet.org/greyforumseries/circulareconomy.html.

For a long time there exist good contacts between the TIB and the Grey Literature Network Service (GreyNet), which was founded in 1992. The aim of GreyNet is to facilitate dialogue, research and communication between individuals and organisations in the field of grey literature.
Grey literature is literature that is difficult to obtain and not commercially available.
What is new, however, is the cooperation between GreyNet and the TIB in the field of audiovisual media. Dominic Farace of Grey Literature remembers:

National Library of Technology is hosting its 12th Conference on Grey Literature and Repositories. Grey literature and related topics from the Czech Republic and abroad are presented at this event. This international conference will take place in the National Library of Technology (Prague, Czech Republic) on October 17.
We invite potential presenters to submit their proposals now. More information and form for proposal submitting are available on the conference webpage. Proposals submission deadline is May 10.

Twenty-First International Conference on Grey Literature

Open Science Encompasses New Forms of Grey Literature

German National Library of Science and Technology

TIB Hannover, Germany ● October 22-23, 2019

For more than a quarter century, grey Literature communities have explored ways to open science to other methods of reviewing, publishing, and making valuable information resources publicly accessible.  This Twenty-First International Conference on Grey Literature seeks to demonstrate how the principles of science and advancements in information technology have impacted the field of grey literature and in turn how grey literature by implementing these has contributed to the open science movement.

Open science is defined as the movement to make scientific research, data and dissemination accessible to all levels of an inquiring society. Grey literature by definition seeks to make publications produced on all levels of government, academics, and business openly accessible different from those controlled by commercial publishing. As such the open science movement incorporates the work carried out by grey literature communities and renders an even broader framework encompassing newer forms of grey in both textual and non-textual formats.

Open science encompasses the life and physical sciences as well the social sciences and humanities as does grey literature. Open science recognizes the value of grey literature in the process of knowledge generation and as such acknowledges contributions made by researchers, authors, and their communities of practice. Open science changes the way research is done and allows for convergence with the field of grey literature. It is within the open science movement that grey literature and its wealth of information resources are valued and properly exploited for society as a whole. http://www.textrelease.com/gl21callforpapers.html
